Users report WhatsApp down, Facebook and Instagram too suffer glitch

Users are unable to download media in their WhatsApp messages. At the same time, Facebook and Instagram too are suffering from outages.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • WhatsApp is not working for some users.
  • Users are reporting that they aren't able to send messages on WhatsApp.
  • At the same time, Facebook and Instagram too are suffering from outages.
Apparently right now WhatsApp is suffering some blues. Users are reporting, with many of them tweeting, that their messages are not going through. In many cases users are also unable to download media files including images, videos, among others in their WhatsApp messages. At the same time, Facebook and Instagram too are suffering from outages.
The problem it seems is with Facebook servers, which power all three services.
While neither Facebook nor WhatsApp have official said anything about the glitch their services are suffering, websites that run down detectors have noticed spike in complaints from users. The problem seems to be more in South America and Europe and Now also in India.

From the outage Map on the Down Detector it looks like in India, there is not much issue with WhatsApp right now.
The Down Detector also shows spike in outages for Facebook Messenger. For WhatsApp the problem primarily seems to be related to picture and audio messages that are apparently not coming through WhatsApp servers with users unable to download them in their phones.

Earlier in March too all three services had suffered downtime and the problem lasted for hours. Although at that time too, not many issues were reported by Indian WhatsApp users. Also the outage happened in the early morning hours, when most users in India were sleeping.
At that time Facebook had said: "As a result of a server configuration change, many people had trouble accessing our apps and services... We've now resolved the issues and our systems are recovering. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience.
