The Navratri festival as well as Durga Festival is of Nine Days which is coming soon in few weeks starts from October 17, 2020 (Ghatsthapana) to October 26, 2020 (Dussehra or Vijay Dashmi). This Festival is starts with the arrival of Durga Maa with us. This year Navratri festival is delayed because of Adhik Maas (Malamas), Purushottam Maas or Adhik Maas is an extra month in the Hindu calendar that is inserted to keep the lunar and solar calendars aligned. Navratri is observed for different reasons and celebrated differently in various parts of the Indian cultural sphere. Devotees do fast for Nine days with several Rituals (Falahaar, Upwaas, Garba, Dandiya, Barefoot fast, etc.) from Several Regions of the Country. The Navrati is also known as the festival of colours, Brightness, joy, cheerfulness, peace, divine energy, etc. Devotees Wear specidic colour dress, sarree or any wear according to Maa durgaa Sarrees Colour which is different to all nine days.

GHATSTHAPNA

Colour GREY 
On Pratipada or Ghatsthapana, 1st day of Navaratri, Devotees do the ritual of GhatSthapana or Kalash Sthapana, on this day devotees worship mainly Navdurga Sampradaya form of SHAILPUTRI MATA  - daughter of the mountains. She is the absolute form of Mother Nature, rides on a bull Nandi, holds a lotus flower in her left and Trishul in her right hand. And also worship of other Navdevi Sampradaya of Sri BalatriPura Sundari Devi, Dasha Navdevi Sampradaya of Maha Kali Mata and Saptamadrika or ashtamadrika sampradaya of Brahmi devi (Brahmani). The Colour is GREY  which signifies evil destruction.

DWITIYA - Oct 18
Colour - ORANGE
On Dwitiya, second day of Navratri, Maa BRAHMACHARINI ,the unmarried form of Navdurga Sampradaya is Worshipped. And also worship of other Navdevi Sampradaya of Sri Gayatri Devi, other is Dasha Mahavidya Sampradaya Tara Devi / Neela Saraswati Mahavidya, and Saptamadrika or ashtamadrika sampradaya of Vaishnavi Mata. The colour ORANGE signifies Brightness and Knowledge.

TRITIYA - Oct 19 
Colour - WHITE
On tritiya, third day of Navratri, Navdurga Sampradaya form of Maa CHANDRAGHANTA is worshipped. And also worship of other Navdevi Sampradaya of Annapurna Mata, other is Dasha Mahavidya Sampradaya Chinnamasta Mahavidya, and Saptamadrika or ashtamadrika sampradaya of Maheshwari (Maheshi, Rudrani, Roudri). The Colour WHITE signifies Peace, Calm and Purity.

CHATURTHI - Oct 20
Colour - RED
On Chaturthi, fourth day of Navaratri, Navdurga Sampradaya form of Maa KUSHMANDA is worshipped, she has eight arms with weapons, instrument and armoury, Maa Kushmanda sits on Tiger. And also worship of other Navdevi Sampradaya of MahaLaxmi Devi, other is Dasha Mahavidya Sampradaya is TripuraSundari Mahavidya and Saptamadrika or ashtamadrika sampradaya of Indrani ( Aindri, Mahendri, Shakri, Vajri). The RED colour Signifies or symbolise passion, auspiciousness as well as anger (that is required to uproot evil).

PANCHAMI - Oct 21
Colour - ROYAL BLUE
On the 5th day of Navratri, Panchami, Navdurga Sampradaya form of Maa SKANDAMATA , mother of Kartikeya is worshipped. She rides on a fierce lion, having four arms and holding a baby. And also worship of other Navdevi Sampradaya of Lalitha Tripura Sundari Devi, other is Dasha Mahavidya Sampradaya Bhuvaneshwari Mahavidya, and Saptamadrika or ashtamadrika sampradaya of Kaumari (Kumari). The ROYAL BLUE colour represent Divine Energy.

SHASHTI - Oct 22
Colour - YELLOW
On Shahshti, 6th day of Navratri, Navdurga Sampradaya form of KATYAYANI Mata is worshipped Known as the warrior goddess, Katyayani is considered one of the most violent forms of Goddess Parvati. In this form, the Devi rides a lion and has four hands. And also worship of other Navdevi Sampradaya of Saraswati Devi, other is Dasha Mahavidya Sampradaya form of Tripura Bhairavi Mahavidya (KalaBhairavi), and Saptamadrika or ashtamadrika sampradaya of Varahi Devi. The YELLOW colour symbolise joy and cheerfulness.

SAPTAMI - Oct 23
Colour - GREEN
On Saptami, the 7th day of Navratri festival, Navdurga Sampradaya form of KALARATRI MATA is worshipped, She sheds her white skin and changes her colour into black to kill the demons.. And also worship of other Navdevi Sampradaya of Sri Durga Devi, other is Dasha Mahavidya Sampradaya form of Dhumavathi Mahavidya (Kalabhairavi) , and Saptamadrika or ashtamadrika sampradaya of Chamunda (Chamundi, Charchika). The GREEN colour symbolise vegetation of the Earth and refers to beauty of Mother Nature.

ASHTAMI - Oct 24
Colour - PEACOCK GREEN 🦚
On Ashtami, Eighth day of Navratri festival, Navdurga Sampradaya form of Godess MAHAGAURI is worshipped symbolise peace and intelligence. And also worship of other Navdevi Sampradaya form of Sri Mahisasura Mardini Devi, other is Dasha Mahavidya Sampradaya form of Bagalamukhi (Pitambari) Mahavidya and Matangi Mahavidya. and Saptamadrika or ashtamadrika sampradaya of Vajreshwari Devi and Mukhteshwari Devi. The PEACOCK GREEN colour represent the desires and wishes that get fulfilled.

NAVAMI - Oct 25
Colour - PURPLE
On Navami, 9th day of Navratri festival, Navdurga Sampradaya form of Maa SIDDHIDHATRI is worshipped, Also known as Saraswati Devi, Siddhidaatri sits on a lotus and is believed to possess and bestows all types of Siddhis. She has four arms. And also worship of other Navdevi Sampradaya of Sri Rajarajeshwari Devi, other is Dasha Mahavidya Sampradaya Kamala Mahavidya (Kamlatmika), and Saptamadrika or ashtamadrika sampradaya of Ayurdevi. The Colour PURPLE represents ambition, goal and energy. 
At Dussera Durga Puja will be end.
